So from now until April, the roadroads will be snow covered. At least the potholes are filled!

I'm jealous.  We're getting down to an unseasonably cool 24 degrees (freedom units) in Southern NM tonight, but no precipitation is on the horizon any time soon.

Cold without snow is just sad.

This is acceptable. If I'm going to live in a place with winter, the winter conditions had better be consistent.

We are single digits overnight and almost all the snow has melted off in SLC

Probably b etter than a salt encrusted dustbowl, or solid sheet of ice.

We mainly use sand here in Saskatchewan. Apparently salt does nothing below -15 Celsius. Since most of our winter is spent at well below that, we figure we’ll just cut out the middle man.

I much prefer roads like that to the slush puppies we get here. The state, and apparently the town, will actually dump a sand/salt mixture even during the middle of a storm sometimes, making a slushy disaster instead of just snow. Get snow tires, people, and let’s not promote rust quite so much, eh?

This is what perplexed me about driving in Montana earlier this year and what made me so damn glad to have a Subaru with snow tires on it. I am used to “it snows, there is snow on the road” from living in NJ. But 100% of the time said snow was cleared from any non-residential roads by the end of the day even if it snowed 3 or 4 feet the night before. Sure backroads might be kinda snowy for a few days but eventually those would get cleared out too. Driving in Montana and it snowed a few inches the day before and it was still an ice rink on a state highway. Made me very very happy in my vehicle and tire choice. FWD car with all seasons would have been a nightmare.
